Bichectomy
Bichectomy
Bichectomy is the surgical reduction of the cheek fat extension, located in the midface. This fat pad starts from the temple area and extends to the cheek. It requires being careful when deciding on surgery. That is why examination of the case is required to see if the patient is eligible for surgery.
Operation
Mostly, it is done under local anesthesia. With a small incision made inside the mouth, the ‘excessive and herniated’ part of the cheek fat pad is removed. Thinning is prolong from the cheekbones to the jawline. Since it is performed with local anesthesia, the patient is discharged on the same day.
Please Pay Attention
The largeness of the face and cheeks does not occur only because of the Buccal fat pad. Accordingly, in many people, thinning does not occur by eliminating this fat pad. The largeness of the lower face also depends on the position of the chin tip, the chewing muscle (masseter) volume, the jawbone structure and the subcutaneous fat tissue anatomy.
I avoid unnecessary operations in most of my patients who come for a bichectomy. In those cases, I can achieve the desired effect with methods such as jaw tip filler application or masseter botox application.
